Prayer – Let it begin with me

Abba, thank you for being a Good Father. One who isn’t changed by the daily events in our world. One who loves us and cares about the passions we have. One who loves the broken and hopeless. Thank You that even though it might seem like things are spinning out of control, Your Word is clear that you hold all the pieces in place and You allow struggle to come that we might see your hand and draw near to You.

I confess that I have had a terrible attitude. I have silently criticized my Christian family when their walk didn’t look like mine. I have spoken harsh words against them, even if it was never out loud. I have forgotten that it is You alone who call each on and who gives each of us a purpose. I need your cleansing.

Reveal the deep parts of my heart I am still hiding. Shine Your holy light on the parts of me that the enemy can use to destroy the body of believers. Let me be less worried about what You called others to do and be more focused on the tasks You have for me.

Let me be a light in the darkness, bringing hope to the hopeless and love to the broken. Let me be willing to go where You call and obey when You speak. I trust You completely. You alone can hold all of these events in your hand. You alone know the way to answer each hurt and question caused by chaotic times. You alone are the answer.

Today, Abba, let it begin with me. Let me see my ugliness and sin. Calling it by name and coming to you to remove that in me. Let me be filled instead with your love. Filled with peace, love, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self control. And above all let me love in a way that bears your name. Never giving up. Caring more for others than for myself. Leaving off the β€œme first,” attitude. Remind me often, not to keep score of the sins of others, and to take pleasure in the flowering of Your truth. Lead me to trust You always. Always looks for the best in others and persistent in the journey you have set before me.

I am yours. Use me today, to change the world around me by sharing and living the gospel message. That alone is where my worth and purpose is found. Please tattoo it on my heart so that I won’t forget.
